REVIEW: Never Trust a Guy with Fangs by Mia Monroe (Covens of Eaton Falls #1)

Image
Review: “If vampire danger, why hot?” Utterly captivating. I mean, I am completely enchanted. I don’t say that lightly. I haven’t read anything paranormal, magical, or vampire related ever before (and not just in romance). My brothers harangue me constantly for not liking the campy vampire movies they love. Just not my thing. But it was hard to ignore the hype around this series, and I do love Mia Monroe. And I figured, no matter what I can get through a few books, even if they aren’t my thing, and at least then I’ve tried. I was not prepared for how much I would love it. The writing, the characters, and the storyline (of both the couple and the larger plot), it had me enthralled the entire time. And not just that, frothing at the bit for more. What I expected to be silly, was anything but. It had humour, for sure, but it was also tender and deep (there were a few tears shed along the way). Ultimately it was sweet., and I loved that. Something about a blood-sucking vampire being swe...

REVIEW: The Forbidden Equation by JR Gray

Review: Be still my romantic & political junkie heart. White House romances are my new favourite kink. We met Liam in book one, the younger brother of Harden. A little standoffish, but he was also wonderfully spirited and strong. So you knew his story would be a path completely his own. And he didn’t disappoint.  He has struggled with being the black sheep, unable to live up to his father's expectations. Dealing with depression doesn’t help either.  The one person to bring joy to his life is his father’s best friend and running mate Matt. Matt is everything you could want.  Thoughtful, caring, and passionate about doing good for the world.  He’s living a life not completely his own, but that sacrifice is worth it for the good he can do. Right?! Until the idea of sacrificing Liam’s place in his life becomes too much to bear. Liam helps him realize that his own happiness is just as important as what he can do for other people.  This was smartly done, with so m...

REVIEW: Step Bully by Willow Dixon

Image
Review: I have so many feelings about this. I hated them for the first third of the book. Particularly Asher, but Julian too. They were such jerks, and brats, and just absolutely horrible to each other. And then it was endless hate sex. I wanted to punch something, I had such a visceral reaction to it. I mean, I know Bully was in the title but wow, they were terrible to each other. They had good reason for being angry of course, they were 15 when they became stepbrothers thanks to horrible parents who didn’t seem to have any care for the children’s feelings or needs. But then by the second half, thanks to being forced to live together at college, they start getting to know one another, like actually seeing each other for who they are, for what they’ve been through, they become magic. Loving, kind, patient and supportive. I of course love that part when enemies become lovers. This was a rollercoaster of emotions, yet still low angst. Hopefully, the half-siblings will benefit from the...

REVIEW: Classic Dilemma by Jeris Jean

Review: A lovely, low-angst story about two very sweet men who finally find love after they have been secretly pining for each other since they first met. Ian and Ash are wonderful together. They are so clearly smitten with each other (I’m surprised they were able to hide it for so long). After the build-up of them each dreaming of the other, being sure they were getting vibes (though they were equally sure they were misreading them), it was absolute fire when they first kissed. The lead-up and backstories were so well written, that there was no question they were meant to be together, and felt absolutely believable. The light d/s dynamic gave their story a little kick, taking it from just a sweet story, to a sweet and steamy one. It was a great twist, and I loved everything about it. I’m also smitten with how readily they accepted each other for who they were, and what they loved, and were quick to defend each other when necessary. This was absolutely a swoony, steamy, and beautiful ...

REVIEW: The Holiday List by Lane Hayes (Script Club #4)

Image
Review: My favourite in this series so far! Love the banter and sexual tension! It was delightfully playful and the chemistry and connection was fabulous. A single dad who’s a little lost and feeling disconnected. And a space nerd who needs someone(s) to share his enthusiasm and love with. Chet makes sharing the spirit of Christmas with his injured neighbour like it’s a mission to Mars. Grinch-like Sam doesn’t know how to say no to the enigma that is Chet. Somehow along the way, the magic of the season wins the day. 🕮 The Holiday List by @lanehayesauthor 📚 Add to your TBR ➟ https://bit.ly/3OZcsNU Synopsis: The Mars maestro, the single dad, and a wish list… Chet Boy, am I lucky! Finding a living situation with a houseful of passionate scientists just before the holidays is ideal in every possible way. As the newest member of the Script Club, I feel it’s important to step up and tackle the to-do list my friends would prefer to avoid. Item one, address the tutoring request from the nei...
