REVIEW: Selkie AU by Arlo August (Because Canon Sucks Series)

SELKIE AU Because Canon Sucks AU by Arlo August Release Date: August 12, 2026 Review A fun premise for this incarnation of Ronan and Milo. I love that Ronan found his person and a life that he’s excited for. He deserves to find happiness and excitement.  He’s a sweet guy, although definitely insular and resigned. There are some wild times and a huge learning curve for this human/selkie couple. I didn’t adore Milo, he felt way too much like a toddler, but he definitely made things interesting! Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis On a stormy night, fisherman Rowan takes his boat out to sea, intending for it to become his coffin, instead it becomes a life raft for a beautiful stranger with inhuman features. Captivated and intrigued, Rowan sees no other option and takes the injured stranger back home, only when he wakes, Milo decides he doesn’t want to leave. Rowan has no purpose, and Milo is burdened with a purpose that feels too great for him. But Milo believes the bu...

REVIEW: Blade by Shaw Montgomery (Legends Series)

Image
BLADE Legends Series by Shaw Montgomery Release Date: August 7, 2026 Review What makes a Legend a Legend? And are legends really just misunderstood? A murder kitty isn’t what the world believed. As Henley discovers when he tries to hunt The Beast of Bladenboro and finds himself ensnared with only the monster to save him. Henley is slightly chaotic and very sweet, which feels perfect for a shifter who’s trapped in a distorted version of his shifted self, with no understanding of what’s really happening. It’s a really interesting tale as they sort out what happened and how to save Blaine, and of course navigate their relationship. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Hunting The Beast of Bladenboro was supposed to be foolproof. It wasn’t a sentient creature I could have coffee with or chat with online. It wasn’t running an online jewelry store or complaining about how humans ruin the national parks. It wasn’t even on the list for the Solstice Festival. It should’ve been a ...

REVIEW: Hellhound AU by Shannon Mae (Because Canon Sucks Series)

Image
HELLHOUND AU Because Canon Sucks Series by Shannon Mae Release Date: August 5, 2026 Review This was a wild ride. Fun, a bit over the top, with some entertaining found family vibes. A Hellhound who has an aversion to getting messy when killing people, and a clumsy accidental assassin. It’s an odd pair that admittedly is pretty cute in the end. They end up working together on some cases, and as chaos ensues, their relationship grows, and they meld their family into a fascinating and equally chaotic group of people. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Rowan I'm a hellhound who doesn't love murdering evil people. Well, of course I'd like to see them dead, but I'd rather not deal with talking to them or getting messy. I like a nice, orderly existence. Milo (who I still think may be a chaos demon) is the opposite of orderly, yet I can't seem to stay away from him. If he wants me to come on a few jobs with him, I'm happy to help. After all, he does all the a...

REVIEW: Bootylicious by Becca Seymour (Legends Series)

Image
BOOTYLICIOUS Legends Series by Becca Seymour Release Date: July 31, 2026 Review I’ve been obsessed with reading this series since my first look at the covers! I mean, they are amazing, and I’m super excited by the Legends theme. Bootlicious is a bigfoot/human pairing. Boone is in charge of a monster network, carrying the weight of that responsibility on his shoulders. Meaning he rarely has fun. But his one indulgence is a slightly accident-prone researcher, Elias. He follows him around, keeps his equipment safe, and rescues him when necessary (more often than you’d think!). There’s not just the funny and sweet encounters between these two, but there’s also a larger world of cryptids and monsters, their worldview, and a bit of a creepy mystery. I can’t wait to follow the world and its other couples. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Bigfoot Boone has one job: protect the forest, manage the Monster Network, and absolutely not get emotionally attached to humans. He’s al...

REVIEW: The Prince's Charm by Ellie Ash (Princely Plans #1)

Image
THE PRINCE’S CHARM Princely Plans - Book One by Ellie Ash Release Date: April 3, 2026 Review Fantastic book one to the Princely Plans series, which follows the same couple Tor and Pel. This fantasy world held a perfect mix of detailed world-building without being so complicated that I get lost. Pel and Tor don’t take an immediate liking to the other. Tor is a high prince hiding from his brother. Likeable by the masses but still a privileged guy. And though Pel is a Prince as well, he is of lower status, within the realm, and within his family. They meet in a flurry of snark, and that doesn’t end anytime soon.  It’s a slow burn, and this is only the first book in their story, but they are beginning to find that they see the other for who they are, and value them for it, which is everything they both need. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis The plan is simple. What could possibly go wrong? Prince Torex Tor’s determined to get around his brother the High King’s plan t...

REVIEW: Love and Clockwork by Essie Sloane (Marriage Market Misadventures Series)

Image
LOVE AND CLOCKWORK Marriage Market Misadventures Series by Essie Sloane Release Date: July 24, 2026 Review I’m really enjoying the Marriage Market Misadventures series, and Essie delivered a delightful addition. It’s got a cozy feeling, with some pinning, adventure, and eventually love. Oleander and Castien meet at the Marriage Market, where they share a kiss that they both think about over the years, but Oleander was never allowed to come back, so pinning it was. When they finally meet again as adults, there is definitely intrigue, but neither is willing to share their thoughts. Instead, they develop a plan for Castien to help Oleander find someone to marry. Best laid plans and all! Well, he does help him find love! Seriously, it’s a quick read, but really lovely. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis One hopeless romantic elf (emphasis on the hopeless.) One ambitious merchant elf (emphasis on the ambitious.) One week that changes everything. Oleander has been to the Ever...
