AUDIO REVIEW: Forsaken by Sloane Kennedy (The Protectors #4)

Image
FORSAKEN The Protectors - Book Four by Sloane Kennedy Release Date: August 16, 2016 Audio Release Date: October 22, 2018 Review Sloane has incredible skill at writing dark stories that enthrall and hold you close. Flawed men caught up in worlds most wouldn’t understand, but they have love and loyalty that make you want to know them. Mav and Eli are an incredible pairing.  They both have secrets and parts of themselves they are scared to share, but they also can’t seem to stay away from each other. I love how they draw each other out and find love and family. I also highly recommend the audiobook.  It’s top-notch. Sloane’s writing is perfect for audiobooks and with Michael Dean’s skill and talent, you are in for an engaging ride. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis I didn't know how to tell him how afraid I'd been that I'd never have this moment with him. This moment where it was just the two of us. This moment where he made me feel whole without even trying. --...

AUDIO REVIEW: More Than Enough by Sloane Kennedy (Pelican Bay #4)

MORE THAN ENOUGH Pelican Bay - Book Four by Sloane Kennedy Release Date: March 17, 2022 Audio Release Date: May 18, 2022 Review I enjoyed the audio version of More Than Enough.  Michael Dean did a really great job with the story and the characters.  He’s a great narrator, but he also had some interesting material to work with. Sloane likes difficult emotions and dark pasts and Jett and Sawyer both had a lot of each. It was engaging and interesting and its darkness was balanced nicely with great friends, a sweet kid, and some beautiful animals. Jett will make you squirm with his pain and anger. He’s so raw over his injuries and loss. But you still get glimpses of who is at his core, enough that you know you’ll love him. And Sawyer, so kind and skittish.  He’s kind and compassionate, but you can tell something is haunting him. The way he opens up to Jett despite his past is lovely. I really appreciated the balance of pain and goodness in this one. Add to your TBR Lis...

REVIEW: Retribution by Sloane Kennedy (The Protectors #3)

Review: Retribution felt like it had less suspense than the others, but definitely no less angst, emotional turmoil or pain. It was centred more around their pasts, and the healing relationship between the two of them. Helped along by a pretty adorable superhero obsessed little boy. Hawke’s story is heartbreaking, and I actually found myself annoyed that the people in his life weren’t more helpful in assisting him get his revenge. Tate who’s on the run from a terrible past, along with his son. When their paths cross they find that one thing that they’ve both been missing. Finding compassion and strength. Someone to hold them up when it feels like everything is crumbling around them. “You’re kind, even though all you’ve known is cruelty. You’re strong despite all the times people have tried to break you. You gave up everything for that little boy from the second you saved him and you’ve been the father he needs and deserves despite not having had that yourself. I’m in awe of you, Tate ...

BACKLIST REVIEW: Salvation by Sloane Kennedy

Image
Review: Oooph, that was an emotional book. It was a tough go, a bit of a rollercoaster, and there were some really tough parts that will leave me raw for quite a while (note to self, read trigger warnings). These two have had a really tough go, with some pretty significant past traumas and pain, that leads to some pretty intense push and pull as they try and find their way out the other side where they can be happy. They are closely connected but don’t know the full extent of the things they’ve experienced, but sharing means breaking down walls and possibly being rejected. They both need the other, and when it finally comes together, it’s a beautiful thing, in the meantime, they connect through some pretty hot sex. Throw in some mystery, an adorable dog, and some great old and new characters you’ve been introduced to Salvation Sloane Kennedy is a fantastic writer and does an amazing job at writing action-packed emotional and angsty books.
