Especially being gay in both the age but also being in the monastery. I would definitely be interested in more from this world. My only hiccup was that the language sometimes felt too modern for 1539. Especially the intimate moments. We get to know a little about these men and how they ended up where they are, while developing a little tension to give us a sense of what’s to come. One of the things I love about reading authors from other countries is the elements of their society building stories that are different from ours.  Lords, Earls, Butlers, and Manors always seem like another world to me. Struggling actor Kai, suddenly becomes an Earl and the owner of an estate and staff. One that owes a lot of money, and holds the secrets of an uncle he never knew.   Feeling drawn to the home and the family he never knew, he moves in, discovering an unconventional family within its walls. Including Jason. The kind and thoughtful groundskeeper. I love how they all come together to support each other and fight to stay together.
