REVIEW: Walking on Broken Paths by Amy Aislin

Image
WALKING ON BROKEN PATHS by Amy Aislin Release Date: July 22, 2025 Review All up in my feels from this one!  Grief is a nasty business, and for Jesse, his response is to run away. Leaving home, his parents, and his best friend. Parker has felt that loss for all those years. Left behind, and now trying to run his father's business after he died out of a sense of obligation. When they run into each other again, 15 years later, they pick up their friendship easily. But there are still a lot of feelings to work through, and they tackle past and present together. Which is gorgeous. But darn, what a journey. Especially for Jesse, whose life since leaving has been big and also messy. A stunning story. I can also recommend the audiobook. Aaron Hokanson has a wonderful talent, and his calm, gorgeous cadence was perfect for this story. AUDIO REVIEW: Christmas Lane by Amy Aislin

Image
AMY LANE Lighthouse Bay - Book One by Amy Aislin Release Date: November 29, 2018 Audio Release Date: June 4, 2024 by Aaron Hokanson Review Zach has a crush on his grade 3 teacher, now the town handyman. He fills out a pair of jeans perfectly and really knows how to use his tools!  I enjoyed Zach. He really embodies a young man on the precipice of his future. His drive and passion was palpable. He’s back home helping his sister at the family cafe while trying to find a job that will utilize his degree and talents. What he’s really missing though is connection with someone special. Holland is a gem of a man. Kind-hearted, giving, and talented. Though he’s attracted to Zach, he’s understandably a little apprehensive about the age gap. But as they work on the town Christmas parade, they develop a friendship and real feelings which is what they both need. It’s a slow burn, set amongst the fun and chaos of small-town holiday preparations, with lots of great side characters. I ador...

AUDIO REVIEW: Home for a Cowboy by Amy Aislin

Image
HOME FOR A COWBOY Windsor, Wyoming - Book One by Amy Aislin Release Date: June 9, 2020 Audio Release Date: December 26, 2023 Review This story warmed my heart. I loved Lassiter, the cowboy who knows where his heart belongs but longs to find someone who could also fall in love with the land and the life. His ex broke his heart when he didn’t return home, and he’s not willing to risk the heartbreak again. But Marco isn’t his ex, and the pull between them is strong, and Marco is willing to prove that he was in it with Las. Marco was an equally excellent character. He had a kind heart and longed for a place to truly call home, a person who truly saw him.  The characters, the secondary family/friends, and of course the beautiful setting made it a gorgeous tale. And narrator Aaron Hokanson did a masterful job at bringing it to life and capturing the people and the setting. So glad I got to read/listen to this.
