REVIEW: Checking Out by Jay Leigh (City Boys Never Sleep #1)

CHECKING OUT City Boys Never Sleep - Book One by Jay Leigh Release Date: June 29, 2023 Review "Somehow, in some cruel twist of fate, the universe brought me the perfect complement to my life when I least expected it, and now nothing made sense anymore." This is not a light happy read. It covers heavy topics and difficult pasts, but it’s not oppressive either. It’s intelligent, thoughtful and compassionate. It’s character-driven and involves Shiloh (and his twin) and Trey. Shiloh and his brother grew up in a horrendous family, mostly fending for themselves. Which is what they were doing when they discover that the father they never knew has died and left them part of his company. Suddenly they are thrust into a world they know nothing about with people they’ve never met before. Trey is one of those people.  He was devoted to Marcus, Shiloh’s father. And now it’s his job to help this floundering man figure out his new role. The story revolves around the collision of these two

REVIEW: Unfortunate by Nicole Dykes (Unlucky 13 Series)

UNFORTUNATE Unlucky 13 Series by Nicole Dykes Release Date: June 27, 2023 Review This was a fun story about a famous actor needing some grounding and stability, and a resort worker who resents the soulless life of the rich. But these two seem so opposite and in fact, are only separated by their wealth. They in fact have a lot in common. And though they got off to a rocky start, once they uncover what’s beneath their facades, they discover two really lovely, kind, and thoughtful men. This was a wonderful read that was sweet, engaging and had a lovely conclusion. I wouldn’t mind getting more from Nicole in this setting or maybe some other Hollywood hopefuls. I can think of a certain agent I wouldn’t mind learning more about. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Welcome to the Black Diamond Resort and Spa . . . I’m in exile in this luxurious refuge after a scandal, which shouldn’t be a scandal at all. I’m Elijah Hunt, former child actor, now beloved action star. When a picture o

REVIEW: The Cockpit by Ava Olsen (Voyagers #3)

THE COCKPIT Voyagers - Book Three by Ava Olsen Release Date: June 27, 2023 Review I’ve been anticipating The Cockpit the most in this series.  Ever since the infamous blow-up Rafe and the Captain had during a family dinner, I knew I would love these two falling in love. George is ex-Navy, living the dream of working on the water, but also living with the cruel words of his ex-boyfriend in his head. He’s years older than Rafe (read sexy silver fox!). A model turned photographer. He’s constantly misjudged because of his career and good looks. They can’t seem to have a simple conversation without it ending in yelling and storming off. But it’ll be a long couple of months if they can’t find a way to get along. Thankfully they are both willing to try. So one dinner, aided by some meddling crew, leads to seeing the other in a new light. This fiery duo is in fact two of the sweetest (and possessive) men to ever set sail. I adored them and their mushiness. And I loved how they found a balance

AUDIO REVIEW: Nothing Special V by AE Via

Image
NOTHING SPECIAL V Nothing Special - Book Five by AE Via Release Date: December 12, 2016 Audio Release Date: October 20, 2019 Review This was an interesting addition to the super hot Alpha cop series. It brought us a new couple, but it was also a progression of the original couple God & Day. Steele is in need of a fresh start and has to prove himself on this new team. Tech is looking to prove himself as more than a tech geek. They get off to an awkward start, made more awkward by their mutual attraction. But in the same breath, both men fail to understand how the other could possibly like them. The team is happy about Steele’s arrival, and they are overprotective of Tech, so you get some fun interactions along the way. The blending of the two couples' stories made for an engaging novel and gave us a chance to reconnect with old favourites that are ever present throughout the series. Again, narrator Aiden Snow was made for this series. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synops
