REVIEW: The Question of Us by Jay Hogan (Fisher & Church #2)

Image
THE QUESTION OF US Fisher & Church - Book Two by Jay Hogan Release Date: September 4, 2025 Review I do believe Jay’s books just get better and better. I love her mix of emotional and tender, along with some suspense and mystery. Fisher and Church are middle-aged men who come with all the baggage a life lived brings. But the biggest of it all is the death/murder of Nick’s husband. It’s clear they both care for one another, but navigating beyond their fears and insecurities will take a leap of faith. And on top of all that, the guilt of playing a role in a young man falling back into the hands of a really terrible person is weighing on them all. Now, they find themselves in a pickle trying to rescue him. Caring and thoughtful, they are not seasoned detectives.  The journey of their relationship is wonderful, and it felt real - the ups and downs, and the case really kept you glued to the page. REVIEW: Cueball & Double-Z by Courtney W Dixon (Alpha's Rejects #5)

Image
CUEBALL & DOUBLE-Z Alpha’s Reject - Book Five by Courtney W. Dixon Release Date: September 2, 2025 Review Gorgeous Story - such a tender reflection on loss and grief, and the trauma that it leaves in its wake. Both Gio and Cole need a safe and loving place to land after losing their parents and struggling to stay housed, let alone thrive. Cole will break your heart. The way he shut down in the wake of his partner's death - he had me tearing up throughout the book.  He’s also a beautiful soul, who is thoughtful and caring, even if he’s trying hard not to be that man. Their journey was stunning and so healing. It was the perfect end to the series, and the epilogue allowed for a lovely goodbye to all of Alpha’s Rejects.  Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis I was destined to find them. To face my demons and heal. ** Not a Shifter/Omegaverse ** Zero (Gio) I can’t seem to get anything right. Failure after failure. I’m really struggling here. I’ve loved Cole for y...

REVIEW: Guarded by Lark Taylor (Hopeless Blessed #3)

Image
GUARDED Hopeless Blessed - Book Three by Lark Taylor Release Date: August 27, 2025 Review My heart - these two - just wrap them up in all the goodness. Jeremiah, poor tortured demon. The timing wasn’t great, tasting freedom for the first time and finding your mate. But he was such a good de-man, and patient. Loved everything about him. Noah, an Angel with some trauma, he couldn’t be expected to react any differently. How do you trust after you have spent centuries having your trust and self-worth destroyed?  But by Satan they build something beautiful, and the way they show up for each other will restore all faith in ‘humanity’. It’s a slow burn, but fated or not, these two choose each other, and it’s entirely swoony. I adore this world that Lark has built.  Not just the characters but the underlying worldview of religion, politics, and humanity.  They’re a brilliant writer who captures my attention entirely and makes me want to read the books over and over. Ps - t...

REVIEW: The Unlikely Spare by Jax Calder (Unlikely Dilemmas #3)

Image
THE UNLIKELY SPARE Unlikely Dilemmas - Book Three by Jax Calder Release Date: August 22, 2025 Review 460 pages and they just flew by! Jax’s brand of humour just speaks to me, and she has perfected the art of twists and turns. I loved both characters. The Royal aristocratic spare and the Detective from Belfast with complex emotions about the Monarchy. Yes please!  It’s a fun forbidden pairing who manages to rile each other up constantly. All while dodging danger across Australia and New Zealand. This also has some fantastic political undertones about Colonialism, which I absolutely adored. So this became not just a spectacular romance but also a satisfying dream of reparations. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis What happens when a prince falls for the undercover agent pretending to be his bodyguard? Nicholas I’m the spare, the younger brother of the Prince of Wales. Ever since I was propelled up the order of succession, my job description has been: Exist. Don’t emb...
