I love her mix of emotional and tender, along with some suspense and mystery. Fisher and Church are middle-aged men who come with all the baggage a life lived brings. But the biggest of it all is the death/murder of Nick’s husband. It’s clear they both care for one another, but navigating beyond their fears and insecurities will take a leap of faith. And on top of all that, the guilt of playing a role in a young man falling back into the hands of a really terrible person is weighing on them all. Now, they find themselves in a pickle trying to rescue him. Caring and thoughtful, they are not seasoned detectives. The journey of their relationship is wonderful, and it felt real - the ups and downs, and the case really kept you glued to the page.
