AUDIO REVIEW: Power of the Mind by Nicky James (Shadowy Solutions #2)

Image
POWER OF THE MIND Shadowy Solutions - Book Two by Nicky James Release Date: September 12, 2024 Audio Release Date: September 11, 2024 Review I love a slow burn and you can’t get slower than Diem!! But he doesn’t stand a chance with Tallus. That guy is a force of nature. This pair is amusing. Tallus talks so much he forgets to listen, and Diem struggles to speak with anything other than single words. And you might wonder why Tallus shows Diem any interest, the man has more problems than most, but you can see what he sees. A man deserving of love and care. Their not-partnership solving cases is beyond chaotic and wild. Especially when it involves possible mind control. Okay probably not mind control. Maybe mind control-ish. Definitely something hinky. Poor Diem - he had no idea how much Tallus would upend his life, but I don’t think he really minds in the end! The Audiobook performed by Nick J. Russo really brings these two to life. You get all of Diem’s grunts and Tallus’ liveline...

AUDIO REVIEW: Wicked Flame by Ella Frank (Chicago Heat #2)

WICKED FLAME Chicago Heat - Book Two by Ella Frank Release Date: May 24, 2022 Audio Release Date: August 2, 2022 Narrator: Nick J. Russo Review Love you Superman and GQ, so glad you got your happy ending! The growth of the characters and the closeness that ensues is downright swoony. I adore them both and the journey they take. There’s a little external drama that totally fits with the story and provides a backdrop for these two to build a stronger relationship. Jameson especially took centre stage here with the realization that he deserves good things in his life.  Such a wonderful duology, and I hope there will be more to come someday. No surprise here, but Nick J. Russo delivers a fantastic narration of this amazing story. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Jameson Life is hard. I learned that at an early age growing up on the South Side of Chicago. I accepted it, even came to expect it. With a sister who was a constant source of worry, and a track record of los...

AUDIO REVIEW: Sir by NR Walker

Image
SIR by NR Walker Release Date: July 23, 2019 Audio Release Date: July 28, 2020 Narrator: Nick Russo Review This was a really interesting world that NR created. An ancient secret kink society where dom’s and sub’s are selected for each other.  Told from the perspective of Sig, a doctor and dom, who’s been happy in life and in his relationship with his single sub Levin. Who at one time was a sub himself, and I love that aspect, the idea that a dom knows exactly what a sub experiences. He’s compassionate and kind and treats Levine beautifully. Levin, in his own right, is such a terrific human being and a delightful sub. He’s sweet, a bit cheeky, and clearly glows under Sig's domination. This is how Sig finds himself being asked to take another sub on a trial. His old master erred in the assignment of Hunter, ending up with a dom that had no respect for his limits, and now needs a new dom who will treat him with the respect he deserves. What ensues is an interesting character st...

AUDIO REVIEW: The Fireman and the Flirt by AJ Truman (Single Dads Club #4)

Image
THE FIREMAN AND THE FLIRT Single Dads Club - Book Four by AJ Truman Release Date: March 27, 2024 Review I was originally going to read this one, but when AJ announced that the audiobook was out already, I jumped on that. It’s my first audiobook of theirs, and let me tell you, it was fantastic. His writing style is perfect for narration, and it was expertly done by Nick J. Russo. They seem like a perfect pairing. Nick captured the fun nature of the AJ’s style, and did a fantastic job at sucking you right it. Not gonna lie, I love the Single Dads Club, and was excited for another member to join their ranks.  Derek was a high school hockey god back in the day, and he has returned home with his daughter after the death of his wife. Needing a fresh start and some family.  That fresh start includes finding a home with the help of Cary, the nerdy friend of his brother Cal (book 1).  Cary is a warm and bubbly guy and also happens to be slightly (and hilariously) awkward ar...

AUDIO REVIEW: Lacuna by NR Walker

LACUNA by NR Walker Narrator: Nick J. Russo Release Date: October 23, 2020 Audio Release Date: March 22, 2021 Review Little Fish and Pretty Black Bird Ah man, what a fantastic story.  I was completely mesmerized by this fascinating world, and the two men bound together for an unknown purpose.  It was such great world-building. There are four kingdoms, with four rulers who have only known peace. ‘Who wears the mark bears the crown’. They are brought together for an event that sees betrayal. What I loved (all of it!) was the distinct cultures of each kingdom and the personalities that inhabited them. I also loved their banter, which largely started as chirping and annoyance, but grew more playful the more time they spent together. “What is it, little fish?” he asked quietly. Tancho shot him a fiery gaze that quickly melted into a half-smile. “I hate that name.” Crow’s smile won out. “I don’t think you do.” “If anyone else called me that, I’d slit their throat.” “If anyone...
