REVIEW: Stories from Queens Parade V2 by Kristian Parker

Image
STORIES FROM QUEENS PARADE V2 Queens Crescent - Short Stories by Kristian Parker Release Date: February 14, 2025 Review I really enjoy these little snippets of life on Queen’s Parade - it helps make it even more real and fulsome.  We get to see some of our favourites again, while also meeting the shop owners that have popped in other stories. Their stories all contain a little bit of relationship drama, that speaks to who they are and their fears but helps them find a real and strong love. Like all of us, they make mistakes, jump to conclusions and buid walls to their hearts. But mostly it’s fun to get glimpses of life beyond Queen’s Parade and see more men fall in love. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Queens Parade is a little shopping street just around the corner from Queens Crescent. In one of London’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, these shopkeepers have their own stories to tell. This world was originally a series of short stories for newsletter subscriber...

REVIEW: Paint Our Song by Maia Kinley (Cloverlily #1)

Image
PAINT OUR SONG Cloverlily - Book One by Maia Kinley Release Date: October 22, 2024 Review Debut novel by Maia Kinley is definitely off to a great start. I really enjoyed the writing style, setting, and characters, including some really well developed side characters. It’s a slow burn between Calvin, an introverted musician going through a rocky time and Miles, an artist coming home to help dig the family Inn out of debt. They are both likeable guys, Calvin more so. I’m thankful for his bandmates Chase and Gil who are the most amazing friends, who would burn the world down for Calvin. And Calvin deserves that. I wanted more of that from Miles.  I did like Miles, he was kind and had his own struggles and losses that shaped him, but he was also very self-obsessed.  Not in a superficial way, rather he was always thinking about how something affected him, what he wanted, needed, etc, and he never really grew out of that habit.  But it wasn’t enough to turn me off, just ...

These two build a friendship, bolster each other, and find love in the process.  They are a great pairing, and there’s a little relationship drama to keep things interesting. One has to mention that Mrs Wimpole is a shining star of this one. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Josh Winterton is broken after his husband walked out on him six weeks ago. He has lost sight of everything. His fashion design business. His friends. His life. That is until a handsome stranger begs him for help. Hugh is a drag queen who’s h...
