REVIEW: The Liar in Room 5 by Kerry Kilpatrick (Halo House #2)

Image
THE LIAR IN ROOM 5 Halo House - Book Two by Kerry Kilpatrick Release Date: September 8, 2026 Review A sweet story of a boy who is starting over, for the first time really getting to decide what he wants for his life, and even better, doing it with the support of a wonderful Daddy who's patient and kind. I enjoyed the slow burn and build-up. They found something solid, something that shows you that you can rely on someone but also be yourself. It was lovely getting introduced to Halo House, and I’m sure there will be some wonderfully diverse stories to come. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Sometimes the hardest person to find is yourself. Andrew Greene I always thought I was pretty good at relationships. Sure, they ended eventually, but people break up. You dust yourself off, meet someone new, and move on. Looking back, I suppose I should have found it a little odd that my next boyfriend almost always came from my last boyfriend's group of friends. No one seemed t...

REVIEW: Beast by Denver Shaw (Legends Series)

Image
BEAST Legends Series by Denver Shaw Release Date: September 4, 2026 Review The Beast is a sentinel of the forest. Living alone with only the Monster Network as regular contact. Then a photographer trying to find himself rents a cabin in his territory, and he can’t seem to stay away. Despite being a city boy who photographs weddings and the like, he fits beautifully in nature. It’s a slow burn with a hefty length, but there’s some great dialogue, a little cryptid intrigue, and some great lore.   I especially loved Calder turning to Boone for advice! Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis A grumpy cryptid falls for his sunshine human. I didn’t come to Wisconsin looking for a legend. I came to get out. Out of staged smiles. Out of corporate campaigns. Out of photographing happiness that felt manufactured. I was supposed to spend two months in the woods. No clients, no deadlines, just open sky, real silence, and nothing that needed editing. What I find instead… is Cal...

REVIEW: Maneater by MM Wilde (Legends Series)

Image
MANEATER Legends Series by MM Wilde Release Date: August 21,2026 Review Rex is like the Pied Piper of forest animals. Or maybe Dr. Dolittle. Running an Inn, living in a cave with his pets, and working the Monster Network. It’s a good life. But it’s also missing a plus one. Until Darien wanders into his Inn, and stumbles into his cave. The secret is out. And really, they are perfect for each other, you know, after the shock! Time spent in nature, a road trip to the summer solstice bash, and new and old friends around them is the making of a delightful love story. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis An epic, magical summer solstice celebration with super scary monster legends, and a cryptid wants me as his date. Seems legit. Darien As much fun as it is making two dollars above minimum wage, I’ve always dreamed of a career as an herbalist. Now that I’ve broken up with my girlfriend, it seems like the perfect time to trade the go-go-go culture of LA for the peace of the grea...

REVIEW: Bales and Brawn by Jem Wendel (Foggy Basin Season Three)

Image
BALES AND BRAWN Foggy Basin Season Three by Jem Wendel Release Date: August 17, 2026 Review Zane is a grumpy grumpster - the kind who carries the weight of everything on his shoulders. Losing his mom, caring for his brother and father, he’s loyal but also tired. And Devin, who gets to see the whole country, a little irresponsible, rubs Zane the wrong way. He’s a reluctant boss, always makes sure Devin knows he’s on probation. But as time goes on, those walls come down, and somewhere along the way, Zane finds someone to care for him and help him experience more of life, and Devin finds a home. It’s a lovely addition to the Foggy Basin series. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Devin I’ve only just arrived in this small town and I’ve managed to make an enemy, so it’s a surprise when he offers me a job. Zane is uptight and can’t seem to stand my presence so I’m surprised when he throws down a challenge. One I don’t hesitate to accept. But I soon find out there’s more to Za...

REVIEW: Starlight by TJ Nichols (Legends Series)

Image
STARLIGHT Legends Series by TJ Nichols Release Date: May 28, 2025 Review A great addition to the Legends series. Mothman and his human. Both men are grieving something; the forest is their comfort place. And though their first and second meeting are traumatic, they fall into an easy existence with each other. Easy, not peaceful, because Akai is dramatic! Cole isn’t just grieving; he’s also dealing with family and expectations he never asked for. His cabin and now Akai are the only things that bring peace. Someone who sees him.  But figuring out how to be together when Cole doesn’t fly and the human world can’t know about him.  I love that they figured it out, there were some wonderful workarounds.  Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis A little stalking never hurt anyone… Or at least that’s what Akai told himself every time he checked on the human building the cabin deep in the woods. Before that, the man had camped there alone. Akai wants to believe that he...

REVIEW: Dreams and Reptiles by RL Merrill (Foggy Basin Season Three)

Image
DREAMS AND REPTILES Foggy Basin Season Three by RL Merrill Release Date: August 13, 2026 Review This is a fun, sweet romance. Small town, cute characters, a few just the right amount of quirky.  An amusing meet-cute. I really liked both guys.  They were both kind, passionate, and generally just good people. These two neighbours end up forging a friendship and romance while supporting each other in their passions and plans, which is really quite lovely. There are a number of shenanigans involving escaping reptiles, misbehaved guests, and nosy neighbours, but it’s mostly all fun, and reminds of how wonderful the town of Foggy Basin is. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis From the award-winning author of Under His Sheets and Once Upon a Goth Dog Solstice comes an age-gap, hurt/comfort romance between two men with bruised and battered hearts ready for a second chance at happiness in small-town California. Francis I refer to the events of the past year as My Demise,...
