THE LOST MEMORIES OF CALLUM BRECKER Book One by Marilyn Bordelon Release Date: January 7, 2023 Review A fantastic debut novel by Marilyn Bordelon. It’s a mafia story, so you know, expect all that comes with the Mafia! At times dark and disturbing. But it also has the lightness and innocence of teenagers captured within it. What I loved most was the structure. We start in the present day, seeing them as they are after events that irrevocably changed them. Callum and Ambrose meet again after years apart, except Callum has no idea who he is, yet there is still a draw. We feel the frustration for Callum not being able to remember while others still do but refuse to tell him. We then return to the past. To them meeting as teenagers. Becoming friends. Becoming more than friends. Callum discovering that Ambrose’s family is part of the Mafia. Why they are forced apart. The time that Callum has lost. It’s heart pumping, and heartbreaking.
