AUDIO REVIEW: The Player by Lily Morton

Image
THE PLAYER by Lily Morton Release Date: November 18, 2024 Audio Release Date: November 14, 2024 Review Con and Frankie are such a lot of fun, as is their story.  Between their mutual pinning, some awkward misunderstandings, and some really great side characters (including a crime-obsessed parrot), this is a thoroughly enjoyable story. Frankie is widowed by Con’s best friend. But even if he hadn’t died, it’s inevitable that these two would have found their way to each other. They’re perfect for one another. Best friends and lovers. Set in a quaint village with open garden days, meddling neighbours - really, the whole shebang. It’s exactly what I love about Lily’s writing.   Not to mention that the narration is done by Joel Leslie, who always delivers a top-notch performance.  It’s like Lily and He are made for each other. AUDIO REVIEW: Hug It Out by Davidson King (Haven Hart #2)

Image
HUG IT OUT Haven Hart - Book Two by Davidson King Release Date: March 27, 2018 Audio Release Date: November 6, 2018 Review A professional cuddler and an assassin - how can you not want to read that?!! What’s better is that Teddy was hired to cuddle Riordan by his sister who thought he seemed down. Which was true, if only she knew why! I loved them both, and competence is totally a kink of mine.  Apparently, it doesn’t matter if that competency is in killing people or bringing love, care and touch to someone’s life. Swoon either way. While Riordan is questioning his career and how to move forward in life, he and the organization he works for are put to the test when traitors turn out to be in their midst and working against them. It’s a high-stakes story, tempered with some gentle kindness…and drama! Cuz loving an assassin with a conscience isn’t always easy. Narrators Philip Alces and Joel Leslie on their own are fantastic, together - chef’s kiss!  Add to your TBR List ...

REVIEW: Red Dirt Heart 4 by NR Walker

Image
RED DIRT HEART 4 Red Dirt Heart - Book Four by NR Walker Release Date: January 9, 2014 Audio Release Date: March 2, 2018 Review Travis, you are as perfect as I and Charlie knew you were. I grinned through this whole book. Just pure happiness for these boys. It wasn’t always easy but it was absolutely worth it. Charlie through Travis’ eye is incredibly beautiful. This man who has no idea how incredible he is, smart, and a fantastic boss and leader. Watching him learn to love and be loved…I melt into a puddle of goo. I love how assured and confident Travis is, but I also love him when he’s insecure and in need of Charlie’s assurances. The land they live on may be harsh, but the love on this ranch/station is anything but. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Moving from a Texas ranch to an Australian Outback station was a life changing decision for Travis Craig. Though it wasn’t really a decision at all. Something in his bones told him to go, though he had no clue as to why....

AUDIO REVIEW: Snow Falling by Davidson King (Haven Hart #1)

Image
SNOW FALLING Haven Hart - Book One by Davidson King Release Date: November 27, 2017 Audio Release Date: July 31, 2018 Review My first by Davidson King and a 1000% NOT my last! I was completely engrossed by the story, helped also by the narration of Philip Alces (my recent obsession) and Joel Leslie (a long-standing obsession). Everything about it was wonderful - the main characters, the secondary characters, the world-building, the dialogue. I loved it all. Snow was everything. This young man has been through so much, and yet he remains such a wonderfully kind and compassionate human being. Living in the shadows, surviving day to day. He’s a fighter. You’ll cry for him and smile with him. Christopher - A feared crime boss with a soft centre for his nephew, and now Snow. I love a hard man, criminal and killer, who’s soft on someone.  “You keep the darkness away. I’d give you anything.” It was a great narrative, action-packed, emotional and so loving. AUDIO REVIEW: Red Dirt Heart 3 by NR Walker (Red Dirt Series #3)

Image
RED DIRT HEART 3 Red Dirt Heart Series - Book Three by NR Walker Release Date: October 17, 2014 Audio Release Date: September 4, 2017 Review Part 3 of Charlie and Travis’ story is beautiful and emotional as Charlie is put to the test in his belief that he is enough for Travis.  Travis has to return home to Texas and Charlie is forced to discover that he can in fact function, if not thrive, without him. Even if he also knows he never wants to. It’s a powerful story of growth for Charlie. He really comes into his own, but it also highlights how beautiful their relationship is. There’s a lot that happens in this story, it brings the whole station together, and makes them a little stronger, and a little bigger. It’s super engaging and really draws you in. It’s also helped by narrator Joel Leslie, whom I said over and over, is an absolutely amazing talent and makes every listening experience one of the best ever.
