Between their mutual pinning, some awkward misunderstandings, and some really great side characters (including a crime-obsessed parrot), this is a thoroughly enjoyable story. Frankie is widowed by Con’s best friend. But even if he hadn’t died, it’s inevitable that these two would have found their way to each other. They’re perfect for one another. Best friends and lovers. Set in a quaint village with open garden days, meddling neighbours - really, the whole shebang. It’s exactly what I love about Lily’s writing. Not to mention that the narration is done by Joel Leslie, who always delivers a top-notch performance. It’s like Lily and He are made for each other.
