AUDIO REVIEW: The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish

THE REMAKING OF CORBIN WALE by Roan Parrish Release Date: March 23, 2018 Audio Release Date: August 31, 2018 Review What a fascinating story. It’s a magical story that feels a bit like a fairytale.  Corbin is a beautiful man who sees and experiences the world differently than others. He lives alone in a house in the woods. It’s a life that causes others to shun him and keep him at arm's length. Until Alex. Alex returned home to start over, and that included taking over the family cafe and opening his own bakery. It’s where he meets the guy he can’t stop thinking about. The man who comes in and draws for hours. A shy and beautiful man. The friendship and romance they built was gorgeous. It has such an artistic and lyrical vibe that it is captivating. Especially as an audiobook. Narrated by Chris Chambers he captured the vibes beautifully and just lulled you in completely. AUDIO REVIEW: Raze by Roan Parrish (Riven #3)

RAZE Riven - Book Three by Roan Parrish Release Date: July 2, 2019 Audio Release Date: July 30, 2019 Narrator: Kirt Graves & Tor Thom Review “Rituals are kinda their own magic, aren’t they?” Felix said. “Maybe they don’t do anything, but they remind you what you want.” Ah man, Huey was such a beautiful and emotional depiction of someone who’s in recovery from addiction but is stuck in the loop of it. Following his rituals and putting all his energy into helping others. Until Felix. Felix who is younger and a carer. He’s spent his life caring for his family, being their rock.  They have that in common. But Felix also helps Huey see that he can dream again.  This story is tender and warm, and you’ll want to wrap them both up in a blanket. The characters are honest and very real.  I also love that this was dual-narrated.  It feels so natural to have two distinct people narrate the story. Helps they are both super talented. Definitely recommend the audiobook. ...

AUDIO REVIEW: Rend by Roan Parrish (Riven #2)

REND Riven - Book Two by Roan Parrish Release Date: November 27, 2018 Audio Release Date: January 29, 2019 Narrator: Greg Boudreaux Review Two men whose very different home lives shaped their outlook on life and relationships, and still impact them.  Rhys’ life was full of people who loved them and loved each other, whereas Matt only really knew people who left him. But they found each other, and both are excited to have found someone to love and love them. Except love alone isn’t enough to combat a lifetime of hurt. So our boys need to figure out how to work through their trauma and fears while also allowing for dreams to be reached. Perhaps a little codependent, but it’s part of their journey too. I enjoyed the deviation from the norm, a married couple who needs to work to keep their love strong.  As expected, Narrator Greg Boudreaux gave us a wonderful experience. His style and voice lent well to this story. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis After a whirlw...

REVIEW: Where We Left Off by Roan Parrish (Middle of Somewhere #3)

Image
WHERE WE LEFT OFF Middle of Somewhere - Book Three by Roan Parrish Release Date: July 18, 2019 Audio Release Date: March 16, 2017 Review This is a story about growth, and about unlearning what society tells you about what love should look like, and figuring out what you want and need. Leo loves Will, but he tragically believes that if he loves him enough he will love him back the way he sees it in his mind. No matter how many times Will explains that he’s not interested in a relationship, and enjoys being with multiple people, Leo believes he can change him. Set during a time that Leo is also discovering himself as a person, and an adult. At University, making friends, and experiencing life away from home. This is an unusual romance. It’s a slow burn, that is more about self-discovery. But what these two learn is that their relationship and love can take any form they want. What works for them. It’s also uncomfortable at times as these two awkwardly sort through their emotions. I...

AUDIO REVIEW: Out of Nowhere by Roan Parrish (Middle of Somewhere #2)

OUT OF NOWHERE Middle of Somewhere - Book Two by Roan Parrish Release Date: July 18, 2019 Audio Release Date: July 4, 2016 Review I thought I loved In the Middle of Somewhere, Book 1, but after having read Out of Nowhere, I love it even more.  Because these two books together make them both even more incredible. Going into this book you assume it’s kind of a redemption story for Colin, and in some ways it is. But it’s more. It’s Colin’s story. Plan and simple. And it brings a different side of the story to this family of brothers. There is no one truth. There is only one’s perspective. Colin has lived in the closet his entire life. Deep in the closet. Not just hiding it from others, but also trying to hide it from himself. He hurts people because of it, especially himself, but damn you want to love that boy and make it better for him. Make him hurt less. But that’s exactly what Rafe does. Sometimes against his better judgment. He’s patient and kind. He has his own demons. A ...
