REVIEW: His Cruelest Moves by Kieran Lamour (Barcelona Nights #3)
HIS CRUELEST MOVES
Barcelona Nights Novella
by Kieran Lamour
Release Date: June 11, 2026
Review
I love the setting, definitely need more non-North American/UK settings in my life, and the characters were intriguing.
It’s a novella, so things move quickly, but they feel meaningful, not fluffy.
Brought together by mutual necessity, but reluctant acceptance turns to heat, turns to a deep love.
I’m definitely intrigued by the writing and the world, so I’ll be back for more.

Synopsis
Alex can defend himself against anything... except love.
Having finally scored his first big role, Isard’s only passion is for the screen.
Isard Muntaner, Catalan actor, has finally scored his first decent role, and nothing will distract him from the film’s success. Except that his agent forgot to tell the director that he isn’t actually a martial arts black belt as the part requires.
Alex Zhao, Catalan-Chinese, is a martial arts champion who now hopes to earn his living as a coach. Disciplined and ambitious, he has his sights set on opening his own school, teaching martial arts to Europe’s elite.
Forced together for three weeks to get Isard up to speed as a fighter, each is focused solely on his own ambition, and neither has the time for love. But Eros has other ideas, and when he goes on the attack, his arrows strike right to the heart.
In this spicy short-form novella set in Catalonia, love and passion explode when the worlds of film and the martial arts collide. This spin-off story from His Truest Role follows the romantic fortunes of secondary character Isard Muntaner and his martial arts teacher – a blow-by-blow account of love! His Cruelest Moves is free to readers of It’s Lamour newsletter.
