Review

Volume 3 of Candy Hearts is just as delightful as the first 2. With a wonderful mix of authors, tropes, styles, and pairings, there is something for everyone.  This is a BIG anthology, so I still have plenty more to read, but here are few to get you started.


Tent Poles & Tackle Boxes by A.D. Ellis

A little drama to their reunion!  Cute story with lots of small-town love and friendships.


Explosion of the Heart by BA Tortuga

One really scary moment has these husbands reacting very differently. Simply reacting and not actually talking sends them down a path to divorce. Yet, they are miserable, trying to keep it together for the kids, but are also too proud to talk. Until a hilarious misunderstanding reminds them of how stupid they are being.


I enjoy a second-chance romance, and I’m glad they found their way.


Always This by Becca Seymour

Gah, Becca has the best humour and writes incredible dialogue. Every word of her stories charms me. 


Eli and Ant are just wonderful men who are brought together by a hilarious meet-cute and a budding friendship between Ant’s son and Eli’s nephew. With a quiet ease, they find something beautiful.


Mugs & Kisses by Beck Grey


Ooops, Jake wasn’t supposed to give ‘sweet’ Matt a dressing down in public! Thankfully Matt gives Jake a chance to prove he’s not unhinged.


These two make a really sweet romance - cue plenty of cute dates.



Alexander and the Meet-Cute Potion by David Gray

Magically delightful. Such a warm and playful romp through a magical potion that went wrong and completely right at the same time!  Really loved this premise, and it was done so well.

Quiet, a little grumpy, a little withdrawn, and maybe a little lost and lonely. Then there’s Cash - outgoing, sexual, and completely obsessed with Declan.  It’s a slow burn. One that requires both of them to shift their understanding of each other, and time to truly learn and understand both themselves and the other. I love both the trajectory of the relationship as well as the life and home they build.  It’s a truly wonderful pairing that may be my favourite in the series. Sure I see a bit of myself in Declan, but I also just adore the way Cash grew and how they balanced each other.   ALL I FEAR All’s Fair - Book Two by Abrianna Denae Release Date: September 19, 2023 Review protective, possessive and violent men.  Tennant and Hollis are an incredible pair. Kinky in the wildest way, they are everything and I adored them (even if slightly disturbed too).   Roman is heir to the Amato family and Tennant, as second in command, must shape him into the man he needs to be to one day takeover. Roman is a bit bratty and wild. Truthfully I don’t really care for him, but he certainly makes for an interesting dynamic to both Tennent and Hollis’ lives. I also love the addition of the odd chapter by other people’s view points, it adds a really interesting dynamic and keeps you tied to all the characters in the series.   OVER AND ABOVE Mount Hope - Book Four by Annabeth Albert Release Date: March 6, 2025 Review It’s all been building to Eric’s story. He’s the center of their group of friends. And as they’ve come and gone, finding love of their own. Eric is still mourning the loss of his husband and raising their children who are all growing up, and out.  Enter Magnus, the neighbourhood barkeep, that makes Eric’s heart beat a little bit faster. It’s a cute story that starts with some casual fun and connection but grows into something more. Eric, of course, struggles a bit with what it means and the idea of moving forward with his life, but I love him and even more I love him in love. It’s a great pairing, both wonderful men who bring something to the table to make their lives brighter and happier. I also share Eric’s affinity for potatoes!
