Review

Oh geez, this had me tearing up repeatedly. Enzo’s spiral after his injury was understandable and shattering.  His entire identity is his job - who is he without it?

But it’s not just he who went through something traumatic. Kail faced the possibility of losing his partner and having their lives turned upside down.

It’s a tender story, and there is such deep love underneath all the turmoil. Love that makes you think there is no way they could break. But also, you could see how it could tear a couple apart.

But they also have the support of friends and family who are determined to see them thrive and find their way through.

Synopsis

As a bodyguard to the Mafia heir, Enzo Vargas has given the Amato Family everything for over twenty years. An ordinary day on the job has Enzo proving he took his vows seriously, putting his dedication, his loyalty, and his life into question.

After the attack on the Family costs him his leg, everything spins out of control, as Enzo is forced to reconcile the person he was with his new circumstance, and learn the true meaning of strength, or lose the only thing in his life that’s ever mattered…

As a nurse for the Amato Family, Kail Marino has seen it all. His family has served the Mafia Organization for generations, making him no stranger to bloodshed and violence, but when tragedy strikes close to home, it calls everything he ever believed into question.

Kail is assigned as Enzo’s primary caregiver during his recovery, which turns their already chaotic life together further upside down. Suddenly, the quiet and private relationship they’ve enjoyed for years outside the Family is thrust into the spotlight. Can they survive the extra scrutiny while at their most vulnerable? Or will the peaceful life they’ve built crumble under the weight of loss and sacrifice…

*Enzo contains morally gray characters, a traumatic injury, disability rep, an established couple, and the question ‘Does love really conquer all?’. This is a spin-off from the All’s Fair series. Prior reading of both All I Survive and Doc (Book 1 in The Amato Family series) is encouraged.*
