REVIEW: Illegal Formation by Emerson Beckett (The San Diego Storm MM Football Series #2)
ILLEGAL FORMATION
The San Diego Storm MM Football Series - Book Two
by Emerson Beckett
Release Date: April 1, 2025
Review
I love a second chance romance, and Dane broke my heart. Breaking his own heart all those years ago.
When fate (and some parental meddling) happen, they find themselves in each other's paths. And there’s no going back, no matter how much they might fight it.
Lennox is a pushy dude and completely relentless. But they were a lot of fun once they stopped bickering. And their connection was wonderful.
Things jumped pretty quickly at one point, but otherwise, I really enjoyed the pace and trajectory of their story.

Synopsis
There’s a thin line between love and hate. Everything depends on what lengths you’re willing to go to in order to cross the line.
Lennox Sanders
I have no clue what happened with Dane.
The last thing I remember is the night we graduated from high school.
Twelve years later, we’re both living in San Diego.
He can’t stand to look at me, and I can’t stand to stay away.
I have to know what he’s hiding, and I’ll stop at nothing to find out.
Lieutenant Dane Calloway
Lennox wants me back in his life. But I walked away from my former best friend and our plans for a reason.
He wants to know what happened, but I think he knows.
I hate him, and he lives to irritate the f*ck out of me.
And I’m not giving in even though it’s all I want to do.
Illegal Formation is a childhood best friends to one-sided enemies to lovers MM Sports Romance. It is book two in the San Diego Storm Series. Tropes include grumpy sunshine, hurt comfort, humor with low to medium angst.
About Emerson Beckett
Who is Emerson Beckett? That’s a good question.
I’m a retired educator who loves all things romance and an avid reader and consumer of well-written M/M romance books.
My journey to becoming an author started with an idea one night while I sat reading on my sofa. That idea became an email that ultimately resulted in me editing for three wonderful MM romance authors. The third referral led to an opportunity to co-write with one of the most genuine and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. (She’s my co-author for Quarterback Keeper.)
Besides being a retired teacher and now an author, I’m a wife and a mother of three beautiful adults, one of which is trans. They have left us with an empty nest now full of pets.
