A BOX OF WISHES

by Jackie Keswick

Release Date: November 10, 2022

Review

This is my first novel by Jackie Keswick and I quite enjoyed it. It was a slow-burn character story with a hurting police officer and a coffee shop owner with a gift to help people.

I loved the kind of magical fable feel of it, it was subtle and sweet. All the while this magic swirls around, and Christmas is looming, Ryan has become the target of an attack. Which is how Ben finds himself at the coffee house to handle the case. These two are instantly drawn to one another, and as they spend more and more time together, they can’t deny their feelings. But life, especially Ryan’s need to help everyone even at his own expense, its not easy to take the next steps. To find a balance that will allow them to give the other what they need.

But with a cute cat to bridge the gap, and a large Irish family to poke their nose in, these two find their way to really wonderful happy ending.

Synopsis

Does Fate grant wishes?

Ryan O’Shaughnessy, owner of the Top o’ the Morning Coffeehouse, is convinced of it. Besides brewing the best coffee in Rothcote and baking delicious pastries and cakes, he helps Fate with her errands, never minding that it’s always someone else’s turn to catch a bit of happiness. Not until he meets a man who takes his breath away.

Detective Sergeant Ben Hobart has made a career of helping others. He never asks help for himself. Not even when a bad breakup leaves him lonely and with only his cat for company. Until he sets foot into Ryan’s coffeehouse to investigate a break-in and finds what’s missing from his life.

Fate may grant wishes, but she doesn’t hand them out for free. Can Ben let go of the past? And will Ryan find the courage to make a wish of his own?

A sweet, sexy mm coffeeshop romance with a touch of magic and a cat.

A Box of Wishes started life as a short story written for the 2019 Rainbow Advent Calendar. It has since been revised and substantially extended to give Ryan and Ben a proper HEA.

About Jackie Keswick

Jackie Keswick writes a mix of suspense, action adventure, fantasy and magical realism. She loves stories with layers, plots with twists and characters with hidden depths. She adores friends to lovers stories, tales of unexpected reunions and second chances, and men who write their own rules. She blogs about English history and food, has a thing for green eyes, and is a great believer in making up soundtracks for everything, including her characters and the cat.
