Audiobook Review: The Shutout by Dianna Roman

Image
Review: So I had already read the book before listening to the audiobook version. I was a little nervous. I LOVED the book, and sometimes my imagination and the narrator's interpretation vary. Let's just say…the audiobook is stellar! Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese to a fantastic job, each of them really captured the essence of the characters. Iggy as Jack, the laid back and cheery ballplayer, Alexander as Max, the temperamental and sometimes overwhelmed lawyer. Alexander did an especially amazing job at capturing Max’s often frantic thought process. You can read my original review here: Original Review But I have to say, I loved this story just as much a second time. I wasn’t sure if it would capture me quite the same way the second time around, knowing what was coming, but judging by the concern on my boss's face when she came into my office as I was crying while putting together a mailout, I would say it still gave me all the feelings. This was one of those books that...

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway: Forever, Con Amor By A.M. Johnson For Him, Book 4 Chance, I never in a million years thought I would want a guy who smells like a tree and probably hugs them on the daily, but alas, you've somehow snuck your sexy, khaki-covered ass into my life. It doesn't help that we're stuck living in this apartment together for God knows how long, but I can't stop thinking about that kiss. I know I said it was one and done, and maybe that's the smart thing to do since I'm not convinced of your emotional availability. Maybe I'm a masochist. Or, maybe I might kind of like you. I said what I said. No regrets, Marcos~ *** Marcos, Your ability to simultaneously compliment and insult me is probably one of my favorite things about you. I think it's part of your charm. Does that make me a masochist as well? I definitely like to torture myself. The night I kissed you, I knew it had the potential to push you away, but I couldn...

REVIEW: Dipped in Sunshine by Fearne Hill

Review: If you are looking for funny, quirky characters (especially of the Viking variety) and a story that is pure sunshine, then this is your book. This is the second book in this series, you’ll be in for more of the same humorous, slightly over-the-top characters that you loved in the first one. Fifty is an almost 30-year-old virgin and demisexual, who has found himself in the sights of Otto, the youngest, 19, of the Viking brothers. While Fifty is laid back and happy to just chill, Otto is bold and filterless, blurting out every thought along the way, and pretty much unable to sit still. Together they make an adorable odd couple. Of course, the characters from the previous book haven’t gone far…Eggy, BFF, and older brother who is always looming nearby, with Clem quietly reigning him back in. Along with some other lively local characters, you’ll find you’ve got yourself a very pleasant read. Stars: 4 🕮 Dipped in Sunshine by @fearnehill_author 📚 Add to your TBR ➟ https://b...

REVIEW: Yearning by Kiki Clark

Image
Review: What a sweet and kinky, low angst story. I’m not sure why I don’t read more d/s because I do really enjoy it. Especially when the characters are so charming. Houston is a sweetheart of a badass. Kenneth is a kind-hearted nurse, who’s successful at work but not so much in his personal life. These two fit together beautifully. Kenneth is a natural submissive and Houston is the most caring dom. Kink is obviously a major part of their relationship, but the care and devotion that Houston shows, ensuring his sub feels safe and secure is swoon-worthy. And Kenneth, wanting to make sure his dom also feels special and loved was perfect. Such a tender romance. It was also pretty great to see Houston opening up to his club family. This brings up the host of characters at the club that are a part of this series. They are wild and fun and endearingly loyal. If you are looking for a light and cute d/s story, this definitely fits the bill. Stars: 4 🕮 Yearning by @kikiclark2017 📚 Add t...

REVIEW: Embrace Me by Beck Grey

Review: Well, that had all the feelings and it was totally engrossing, I didn’t want to put it down. This is a fantastic story that delves into the world of hearing and deaf people and communities, love, family, and dreams. These two made me cry: because they are sweet and pretty adorable together, but also because they struggle to get it right and the pain of that struggle was raw. They both want the relationship, but they are afraid of the difficult conversations, wrapped up in their own feelings and past hurts. Wanting to give themselves to it, but worried about giving up too much of themselves in the process and not being able to give enough to the other at the same time I love how they work through it (with some familial help). And oh, the satisfaction when they do get it right. Not to mention they are hot together! The side characters (at least the friends and family) were all great and well developed. Tom was especially great, I hope I’m always the type of friend/colleague...

REVIEW: Forever, Con Amor by AM Johnson

Image
Review: The prologue wrecked me. I’m talking blubbering 5 pages in. Classic AM Johnson. Thankfully there was less crying through the rest of the book. Mostly it was fun witty banter, sweet understanding, and sexy love. Chance is steady and real, even if he has bad fashion sense. Marcos is untamed and cautious, and insults the ones he loves. The unexpected friendship that forms between these two is sweet, and funny, and sometimes awkward, and it moves slowly to something more, (not without some begrudging yoga, time in nature, and early mornings). Chance, ever the adult, wants to get things right, and I love that they take their time, building a bond, learning to communicate. I love that there is no major angst, just the usual things, like fear of commitment and, you know, big feelings. You’ll love catching snippets of the characters in the previous books, it feels like coming home. However, we aren’t going to discuss that this is the last book in the series. You aren’t ready for ...

Blog Tour: Not a Boy by Elle Keaton

Image
Blog Tour & Excerpt: Not A Boy By Elle Keaton All American Boy Series, Book 9 Henry should have kept on walking by when he spotted the younger man sitting alone on the beach. He should never have stopped, never sat down, and certainly never kissed him. Because now Henry is experiencing feelings. And he doesn’t like it one bit. Things happen for a reason, even random hook-ups. Ben was supposed to get off work early that night. It was no accident the sexy stranger stumbled on his beach hiding spot. The Kiss was destined, as well as what happened afterward. It wasn’t as if Ben believed in love at first sight, but this was damn close. It’s a good thing Henry lives three-thousand miles away or he might do something stupid, like ask for Ben’s phone number. Ben’s hometown boss begs him to return and he agrees, only regretting not being able to say goodbye to his snarky divorce lawyer. But all the wanting in the universe isn’t going to bring them together aga...

REVIEW: Purple Stain by Nat Lewis

Image
Review: Wow, what a fantastic debut novel. 5 bright stars! This is an insta-connection, fast love book, but it’s somewhat dark and realistic, which balances it out, keeping it from being light and fluffy, while also preventing it from dragging you under. It’s a perfect balance and keeps you engrossed in their story. And though their relationship comes on quickly, it is still tested and earned. As they battle their pasts and Hayden’s panic attacks, their music brings them together. Giving them a shared ground from which to connect, and reconnect along the way. There is a lot of steam (which, yay), they are young and still energetic after all, but also it felt like it had a purpose to the story and plot. I should also say, I love UK writing, and there’s definitely no denying this is set in Wales! (I had to google a few slang words along the way, LOL). Can’t wait for the rest of this series. Backlist Review: Grounding Griffin by Lucy Lennox

Image
Review: This was released in 2019, it seems so long ago, but making it through my TBR list is hard, and sometimes I feel like I hold off reading the ones I know I’m going to love, kinda afraid they’ll be gone once I’ve gotten through them. All that to say, I love the Made Marian series. I love the MCs, I love the side characters, I love the settings, I love Lucy’s books! Grounding Griffin is the 4th book in the series of Marian brothers. Griffin is one of the youngest of 9 siblings, adopted after being kicked out and having spent some time in the system and on the streets. It’s left him with some trust issues and a fear of dreaming. Sam has family, but really he’s been fending for himself and his sister alone for a long time. Maybe what they both need is one person who they can believe in and will believe in them. This has lots of fun moments, often fueled by misunderstandings and some jealousy, but it also has a lot of tenderness, love, and frustration. Try as you may, you can’t run ...

REVIEW: Love Bites by Duckie Mack

Image
Review: Love Bites is the third book in Duckie Mack’s Love Bank series. And I think by now we know that she has mastered the sweet, romantic, low angst style. Van and Jonah’s story is no different. *swoon* They are both really sweet (at least once you get to know Van he is). And I love a demisexual story, because, well, representation matters, but also because they are slow burn romances, which are one of my favs. This story also reminds us that first impressions matter but also they don’t tell the whole story. I love how food connects them and forges a bond, and acts as foreplay! *wink, wink* What I also loved was that even though Van wasn’t demisexual, he needed the slow pace too, to learn to trust and appreciate what they had. Together they provide each other the grounding they need to follow their dreams. With spring upon us, it feels like the perfect time for a sweet, romantic romance! REVIEW: Play by Heat by Ariella Zoelle

Review: Sunnyside works it’s magic again! If you are looking for a light, insta-love, no angst book between a famous musician and a commoner, this is the one for you. Especially if you like your books steamy. Iason will only believe in love if it’s delivered by the stars. Enter Orion. It must have been meant to be. Even straight Orion can’t deny the cosmic pull. Iason is willing to follow his dreams and he won’t give up without a fight. Orion is shy and an overthinker but Iason makes him want to dream bigger. Throw in a uber-fan sister, an insta-family, and a very grumpy best friend, all for a fun time. It’s a fast-paced, easy read, with a lot of steam, and is super sweet. It’s a nice read for when you need a break from heavier stories or are not up for a lot of angst.
