REVIEW: My Mother's Ridiculous Rules for Dating by Philip William Stover

MY MOTHER’S RIDICULOUS RULES FOR DATING by Philip William Stover Release Date: October 24, 2024 Review I really like the author’s writing style. It’s cheeky and engaging, and the premise of the story is fun and endearing. Sam is likeable, and quite frankly, relatable. He hasn’t reached the milestones he expected to and he has a lot of self-doubts. It makes for a tumultuous time.  Made even crazier by his mother. Doesn’t help that he’s a bit of a doormat. Unfortunately, I wanted to set the mother a drift on a raft in the middle of the ocean.  She was over the top and never once listened to Sam's wants & needs. I would have left the country if she was my mother.  The story had a number of wonderful side characters that brought a richness to the story. REVIEW: Thicker Than Blood by Mia Monroe

THICKER THAN BLOOD by Mia Monroe Release Date: October 30, 2024 Review "I've got you exactly where I want you, curious mortal. I hope you like it here. Because it's your home now. I'm never letting you leave." It felt a bit different from Mia’s other work, but no less fun and definitely sexy. It was as seductive as the vamps in the story. A treaty has been struck between the humans and vampires, but when a rogue vampire puts that in jeopardy, Elias and Geordi team up to try and figure out who’s behind the chaos.   Geordi is a sweet scientist and rule follower. Elias definitely isn’t those things.  He’s a rich and powerful vampire who loves to enjoy himself and especially loves to help the people in his life have fun. They are an odd match, but right from the beginning, it’s clear there’s something between them. A fun story with a lot of interesting side characters we can only hope to see again. REVIEW: End Scene by AV Shener

END SCENE by AV Shener Release Date: October 22, 2024 Review I was unprepared for exactly how disturbing this was going to be. And yet, I’m not mad about it. I was utterly glued to the page the entire way through, and though numerous times I said I should put it down, stop reading, because oh my god, I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t look away. The writing is fantastic, and every time you think it can’t get more disturbing the author leads you down another path of terror.  The way they crafted the characters, especially Jonah, created an extremely likeable yet deeply troubled person, weaving between then and now.  I was stunned. I think I wanted to hate it, but I just couldn’t. I couldn’t deny how great a story it was. REVIEW: Paint Our Song by Maia Kinley (Cloverlily #1)

Image
PAINT OUR SONG Cloverlily - Book One by Maia Kinley Release Date: October 22, 2024 Review Debut novel by Maia Kinley is definitely off to a great start. I really enjoyed the writing style, setting, and characters, including some really well developed side characters. It’s a slow burn between Calvin, an introverted musician going through a rocky time and Miles, an artist coming home to help dig the family Inn out of debt. They are both likeable guys, Calvin more so. I’m thankful for his bandmates Chase and Gil who are the most amazing friends, who would burn the world down for Calvin. And Calvin deserves that. I wanted more of that from Miles.  I did like Miles, he was kind and had his own struggles and losses that shaped him, but he was also very self-obsessed.  Not in a superficial way, rather he was always thinking about how something affected him, what he wanted, needed, etc, and he never really grew out of that habit.  But it wasn’t enough to turn me off, just ...

REVIEW: Three Heart Junction by Colin Dereham (Haunted Hearts Series)

Image
THREE HEART JUNCTION Haunted Hearts Series by Colin Dereham Release Date: November 1, 2024 Review Colin writes some of the best sex scenes out there. Dirty, gorgeous, sensual, filthy, raw, and loving. No matter how many scenes he writes (and there are a LOT) you’ll be begging for more.  His stories are always sensual, but like all the rest, it also packs an emotional punch. A combination of difficult pasts, mental health struggles, and medical issues. And at one point you may want to scream at the author “what have you done !?” But don’t worry, he always delivers a happy ever after, and this one has a super lovely spooky twist to it. Vincent, Murray, and Darrin are all incredible people and I was totally taken by the progression of their relationship(s) but also their getting to know each other and even better, their bodies. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Years ago, a family tragedy led Murray to abandon a promising music career, focusing instead on trying to i...
