Review

Two novellas by incredibly talented husband who consistently brings us unique romances. They are well known for their character development. And these two stories aren’t any different.

Bare Naked by Garry Michael

Naked Survivor - where contestants are paired together and dropped into the Canadian wilderness with basically nothing but their wits and a camera. And the winner is the last pair standing.  This pair - Erik and Drew - a woefully unprepared student and the previous season's winner. I love a romance bubble. Just the two of them trying to survive together, and needing stay warm *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

It’s a well-developed romance with a break that leads to a swoony Hollywood style happy ending.

Hate at First Sight by Michael Robert

This is the second story I’ve read recently with a fire watch tower, and I’m hereby asking for more. Remote wilderness and a one-room tower are the perfect setting for a secluded romance.

Blake and Dirk do not get off to a good start! Blake is a walking dark cloud with a chip on his shoulder looking to escape life in the wilderness. He’s also not exactly equipped for the adventure. And he doesn’t appreciate Blake's concern or questions.

No matter how much Blake wants to throttle him, he can’t turn off his caring nature, nor can he ignore the intriguing and good-looking man, braving the elements to rescue the man, literally.

Now they are trapped in the fire watch tower, with nothing to do but stay warm and get to know each other.

Synopsis

‘Unexpected’ is a pair of novellas written by The Husbands Who Write, authors Garry Michael and Michael Robert.

Join four men, who, with their own personal struggles, cross paths in these two tales. None of them expects their situations to change, but love has a way of showing up when you least expect it.

‘Hate at First Sight’ by Michael Robert

On the anniversary of his partner’s unexpected death, and despite the warning of a late spring snowstorm, Blake heads into the forest of the Pacific Northwest. He is ill-prepared to face the elements but doesn’t really care anymore. He prefers to exist in the pain he cannot seem to escape.

Dirk, a firefighter stationed in a lookout cabin hundreds of feet above the forest canopy, has learned to accept long-term isolation. His career and outdoor lifestyle have hindered human connection until the appearance of a stranger who has no business being on the mountain.

‘Bare Naked’ by Garry Michael

Erik has no business auditioning to be on an outdoor reality survival show, especially one that requires teams of two to be naked. But he desperately needs the prize money, and somehow, he is chosen to participate.

Drew, an American sports icon, is drawn to the small stature of the beautiful young man in the television studio, hoping he’ll get the chance to choose him as his partner. Drew has a secret he’s kept hidden as he achieved the pinnacle of athletic success. Can he win the reality show again? Or is the real prize winning the heart of the naked man beside him?
