This is a fun, enemies-to-lovers story between to guys who have been holding a grudge against each other for twenty years but have been unable to escape each other thanks to mutual friends. Mutals who have just gotten married.

If there’s one way to get me invested in a story, it’s to give me a guy who’s broken for the one he can never have. I know he’ll find ‘the real one for him’ in the end, but the heartbreak, the longing, the ‘why am I not good enough’ will make me tear up every single time. And then for him to confess to the absolute worst person you could, one who has taken a lot of pleasure in making him miserable over the years, I wanted to whisk Jake away and hug him.

I enjoyed the evolution of this relationship and the give-and-take/competing lists. I appreciated that it wasn’t just about Jake getting out of his comfort zone. There is a lot of trust that is built along the way. As well as some mended hurts.
