ENEMIES OF THE STATE

The Executive Office - Book One

by Tal Bauer

Release Date: March 21, 2017

Review

Tal Bauer has the corner on the market for political thriller romance novels!

Heart-pumping romance set amongst the chaos of spies and terrorists trying to kill the President of the United States.

Jack is the newly elected President of the USA. Ethan is the head of his Secret Service detail. Jack expects the presidency to be demanding and hectic, but he doesn’t anticipate the loneliness and isolation. It leads him to befriend Ethan, and despite the fact that there are strict rules against an agent socializing with a protectee, he can’t ignore the draw he feels to him. There’s just something about Jack that Ethan can’t walk away from him.

Their romance is slow-burn, taking the widower Jack by surprise. And then all hell lets loose as unknown forces put the President under attack, kidnapping Ethan in the process.  Who do you trust when it turns out spies and terrorists have infiltrated everywhere?

Now it’s not just their love on the line, it’s their lives too.

“When you love someone, really love them, you’ll do anything. Figure anything out. Because having them in your life is worth more to you than living without them. That’s how I felt about Ethan.”

Enemies of the State is book one of the Executive Office Trilogy. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for these two and the Presidency.

I listened to this as an Audiobook, and John Solo, did a fantastic job capturing these two and the fast-paced, intense nature of this book. Not that we expected anything different, John is an amazing narrator.

Synopsis

The President falls for the one man he's not allowed to love... his own Secret Service agent.

Newly elected President Jack Spiers' presidency is rocked from the very beginning, and he's working furiously to keep the world from falling apart.

For Special Agent Ethan Reichenbach, Jack is just another president. He runs the presidential detail, and he's side by side with Jack every day. He's expecting another stuffed suit and an arrogant DC politician, but Jack shocks him with his humor and humanity.

But there are rules against a Secret Service agent and one of their protectees developing a friendship--big rules. Ethan keeps his distance even as Jack draws him in.

It's a lure he isn't strong enough to turn away from.

As the two men collide, rules are shattered and Jack ends up centered in the deadly crosshairs of a hardline domestic threat. Ethan must put everything on the line in order to save the man he loves, Jack's presidency, and the world.
