REVIEW: The Cult by Garry Michael (Men in the Shadows #2)

Image
THE CULT Men in the Shadows - Book Two by Garry Michael Release Date: June 27, 2024 Review Oh man, I’m obsessed with this series. It totally puts me on edge as there are enemies all over the place, especially given that Tobias inserts himself into a cult in order to save his best friend's family.  I know he can handle himself, but damn the cult is not a peaceful loving one. When he gets there and finds the son, Abel, now 19, and definitely no longer a kid! That man knows exactly what he wants. And he wants Tobias.  He also wants to help protect the other members. As they work together to sort out what the cult is up to and how to get out, they also develop an intense and deliciously dirty relationship. It’s hair-raising at times, but you’ll also cheer them on and find peace in the connection they create. The action isn’t over yet, but their found family and allies are growing! REVIEW: Reaching Roland by Sammi Cee (Honey-Do Daddies #1)

Image
REACHING ROLAND Honey-Do Daddies - Book One by Sammi Cee Release Date: June 28, 2024 Review Reaching Roland is a super adorable and touching story. Roland is an all-around amazing human being—an incredible father, devoted to caring for others, consistent and trustworthy. Seriously someone figure out how to clone him. Such a natural daddy. The friendship he develops with Kenny, his hairstylist, might just be the sweetest thing ever. He might not be able to explain why he’s drawn to spending time with Kenny, but it’s exactly what he needs to bring him back to life. Kenny is a fun-loving guy. I love his devoted friend group and how committed he is to the people in his life. The way he teases Roland, without making things awkward or uncomfortable is super sweet. I'm glad they have so many amazing friends and family to make them see the truth and be so accepting of them. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis Roland Kenny’s outgoing and fun, and he makes me want to do more than ...

AUDIO REVIEW: Junk Shop Blues by Cole McCade (Criminal Intentions Season One Episode Two)

Image
CRIMINAL INTENTIONS: JUNK SHOP BLUES Criminal Intentions - Season One, Episode Two by Cole McCade Release Date: August 8, 2018 Review Their second case and Malcolm and Seong-Jae aren’t any closer to being besties. The previous case still haunts them, and they are still working on trusting each other. They both play things too close to their chest, mixed with their very different personalities and what you get is delicious tension!  We are in for a slow burn and I can’t wait for the beautiful explosion that is to come. I love everything about this series so far.  The new mysteries, and the interesting side characters all make for a great serial. I am here for the long haul. Especially given that they are available in audiobook. Curt Bonnem does a great job narrating. The characters, and the vibe, are all done really well. Add to your TBR List GOODREADS LINK Synopsis ABOUT THIS EPISODE A murdered night club mogul unlocks a web of infidelity and deceit. The most likely sus...

REVIEW: Level Up by Max Walker (Franklin U 2 #4)

Image
LEVEL UP Franklin U 2 - Book Four by Max Walker Release Date: June 28, 2024 Review I enjoyed this a lot. Jay reminds me of me when I was his age. Being so blinded by one's principles and causes that you struggle to see nuance and grey areas. So ‘committed’ to the cause that he can’t see the difference between a father and his son. And being worried about his street cred in the movement. It really is a world of its own, and Max captured it perfectly. I love him paired with Ryan. The rich kid who, like most of us, has a complicated relationship with his father. He loves him and wants to make him proud, but he also doesn’t want to be him.  I love what they bring to each other's lives, and how they each help the other to work through the things that are holding them back.   Despite some heavy topics, it is still a fun, cheeky, college story. Its resolution may feel a bit easy, but it's not meant to be an angsty story. Max gives us love and sex and swoon and ending to b...
