REVIEW: Broken Pieces by Riley Hart (Broken Pieces #1)

BROKEN PIECES Broken Pieces - Book One by Riley Hart Release Date: February 2, 2014 Review This is a stunning and powerful piece of work. So much emotion packed into every page. Side note, if you are listening to this as an audiobook while at work, you will have to explain more than once to your colleagues why you are bawling at your desk. There is always something epic about stories that are told over many years. And you always know they will contain a fair bit of heartbreak. But in the best possible way, these stories always heal us and restore our hearts by the end. Broken Pieces is no different. These three men all have storied pasts that have left a mark on who they are and where their life took them. Decisions weren’t always easy. Mistakes have been made. But over time, through their connections, they figure a way through it all to find some peace and love. Their story isn’t over, but you will feel hopeful in the end. Jack DuPont did a really lovely job at narrating these t...

REVIEW: Master of the Wild by Aiden Ainslie (Love at Lake Clyde #2)

Image
MASTER OF THE WILD Love at Lake Clyde - Book One by Aiden Ainslie Release Date: January 27, 2022 Review Like all small towns, Clydesdale is eccentric, slightly unhinged, but charming. That feels like a central tenet of this book. Expect the unexpected because the people of this town are as wild as the wilderness around them and small towns seem to be a universe unto their own. Conner has had the rug pulled out from under him, and been left reeling. So he decides to leave England and ends up in Clydesdale to stay with his Aunt and Cousins. He’s unsure of himself and what comes next.  Ewan has lost a lot in his life and he struggles to find his place amongst his friends and family.  He’s always there for everyone, fixing things, and helping out, but he’s unable to let them return the kindness. As these two collide into each other's lives, they help to set the other back on their axis. Through their own troubles and troubles that come looking for them, they learn to suppor...

REVIEW: Love & Monsters by Max Walker (Book Club Boys #1)

LOVE & MONSTERS Book Club Boys - Book One by Max Walker Release Date: October 27, 2022 Review What a fantastic start to a new series by Max Walker (this could turn out to be my favourite). I thoroughly enjoyed Love & Monsters. It was fun and jovial. A suspense mystery that was a little camp, a little insta-love, and a whole lot of steam. Sometimes you meet someone, and everything just clicks. The only problem is a stalker who is definitely not happy that Noah is ‘friends’ with Jake. But Jake is not going anywhere. In fact, he’s determined to help solve the identity of this mystery person, along with the other members of their book club. These two are pretty adorable together (and pretty hot), and I love how well they fit together and support one another.  No matter how crazy things get, these two have each other's backs. And not just when it comes to the stalker. The other members of the book club are also pretty fun and intriguing, and I look forward to seeing more ...

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway: Unnecessary Roughness By Rheland Richmond & Emerson Beckett The Package Deal Series, Book 3 Jackson Kincaid When my childhood best friend and I escaped a potentially miserable life in our small southern hometown to attend the University of Georgia, I thought I’d finally be able to live my life the way I’d planned. I’d go to school on a football scholarship and get my degree to become a veterinarian. But when the NFL came calling, how could I say no to millions of dollars? I’d put my plans on hold for a while, along with finding the right man for me. But life doesn’t always go as we plan.   When Allison was killed in a car accident, I suddenly became the only parent to my ten-year-old godson. How would I play football for the Portland Pirates and be a full-time single dad? I’d have to adjust. And thanks to my friends, and the badass team doctor, we’d heal and make it through. Did I mention he’s my best friend and that I can’t s...

REVIEW: Sass by Jay Hogan (The Style Series #3)

Image
SASS The Style Series - Book Three by Jay Hogan Release Date: October 27, 2022 Review This was absolutely fantastic. It was perfect from start to finish. This is a long one at over 350 pages, but did that stop me from reading it all in one day? Heck no, I devoured this. Overall I would describe this as Tender. It has a lot of big emotions, especially as these to grapple with some past traumas and their ability to open up and move forward. Especially Leon’s story. Gah, I cried on numerous occasions. Watching them support one another and work through the emotions…swoon. But don’t be fooled. There is lots of great snark & humour, particularly from Chris, who is the most reluctant boyfriend there is (and yet pretty damn good at it when he stops trying not to be).  He is nothing short of dramatic, but he’s also kind and loyal (just don’t let him know you know). His fighting himself to not want Leon more than once was delightful. And Leon is a fantastic person, who you can’t h...

Blog Tour: Love and History by Lane Hayes (Script Club #6)

Image
Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: Love And History By Lane Hayes The Script Club, Book 6 The sporty roommate, the professor, and a history lesson… Holden Ezra might be the most annoying roommate ever. He’s loud, obnoxious, and full of himself. So what if he’s a tall, muscular, tattooed jock? His tendency to strip to his boxers in the kitchen while helping himself to my food isn’t endearing in the slightest. Nope. Ezra has to go. However, I have to admit, he’s the perfect fit to play the king for my historic reenactment event. Ezra in a royal robe…oh, this could be quite tantalizing indeed. He won’t do it, though. Unless I trick him into a history lesson. Ezra Holden is the kind of dude who wears top hats and great coats while teaching astrophysics to brainiacs. Weird, right? But I gotta respect that level of commitment. And I respect him. Sadly, Holden doesn’t feel the same way about me. I guess I can’t blame him. Cranking his gears has been a highlight of my stint i...
